Until I am there I will be here 2015

Video installation, The Lock Up Contemporary Art Space

For the installation Until I am there I will be here, Lottie Consalvo attempts to create a space of tension between romanticising the past and longing for the future, unable to be present within the time and space that purely exists.

The window in this installation is a projection of the artists imagination, a window in a room that she imagines in a place she has not yet been but longs for. Dripping from above is a luring scent from memories of a time and place that has passed. The artist finds discomfort between the past and future unable to find a place to exist during this time of falling and longing.

Ideas around past, present, future and the passing of time is a common thread within Consalvo's work.

This work is about longing, desire, hope, possibility and futile anticipation for ones contentedness when life is different.
